Philip Townsend’s photographic career started at the beginning of the decade and continued right through this wonderful period capturing the unique feel of the sixties.
During this time most of the collection was published either in magazines or newspapers all over the world.
However, since 1970 nothing has been published or used. Everything is fresh to the market after 35 years in a cupboard at his home. When Philip decided the time was right to show the lost archive to the photographic world the reaction was truly amazing.In the three years since he has had seven exhibitions plus the 2006 Edinburgh Festival and a traveling show which will visit the USA and Canada in 2007
Numerous public collections have acquired prints to add to their archives including the V&A, London and the National Library of Wales
Here we have produced what we think are some of the most interesting images as each picture has a story to tell.
